new gen oldies

Our adventure to finding places for the generation that wants to actively grow old continues! Call them the Maximals, the denim generation, the seasoned teenagers... They are at the end of their working career, but are entering a phase of life where they still want to get the most out of it. They learn new languages, they travel, they do volunteering work or fulfill the life-long dream of becoming a bus driver. They have a strong desire for their social life and therefore prefer to live with friends or like-minded people. Our journey continues!

the park guards

At the edge of the Oosterhout park in Alkmaar, two pavilions are rising up from the green. With their subtle building volumes, they create a green transition to the park and offer space for residents and neighbors to linger.

With our concept of The Park Guards, we want to respond to the needs of the over-55s by offering a home that takes their needs and aging into account.

The "open construction principle" makes a distinction between the supporting structure and the installation. We want to make it possible to easily make adjustments to the homes in the future, such as smaller apartments, relatives mving in or extra care facilities. We also assume 'zero-step houses' so that accessibility is guaranteed for all target groups.

paris proof

Future-proofing goes further than flexibility in installation. The homes will be built with an ambition to reach the 2050 climate agreement, in which we pursue a high circular ambition. We circular demolish the old school building and use it as a raw material for the foundation, bitumen and make the rest of the materials available as a harvest map for reuse. Next to that we make use of circular and biobased materials in the structure, construction and facade. In this way we aim to reach an Environmental Performance Building standard (MPG-normering) of 0.40 euros.

A big sustainable advantage can be found in the use of the building. The over-55s are very conscious in their way of living and thinking of their own footprint. Think of sustainable energy systems through solar energy, conscious way of maintaining a thermal comfort inside, and a semi-public garden where there are several climate adaptive measurements taken so the neighbourhood can maintain a nice outdoor quality during hot summers.
