Post Oost is a place for Volunteers, employees, freelancers, partners, residents, people in need and any entrepreneur willing to help to boost the social cohesion in Amsterdam East. The challenge for APTO was to design a multifunctional space, which allows for hosting activities for people from the age of 4 to 90 years old. All kinds of people will be using this space, because 120 organizations should from now on be housed under this roof. By simply restoring the two main axis in the building, the division of public and private space was created. By restoring the historic roof windows, among one of the main axes, a complete new transparent atmosphere was given to the community support centre of Dynamo. One of the biggest complements, was the selection of Post Oost, as one of the most valued workplaces by its users, in the newspaper of the Parool in 2016.
By adding a few movable houses, which also can be used as meeting space, the open spaces can be divided in smaller spaces. This enables the space to have multiple activities taking place at the same time.
