For the design of the residential building Houten Kop in Kaappark of Rotterdam (Katendrecht), we merged the outdoor timber and trees with indoor CLT walls and wooden furniture.
The architectural design is all wood with a solid wooden shell of CLT with finishing floors of recycled materials. Our interior design leaves the CLT construction visible in both the ceilings and walls. The untreated CLT provides a natural look and contributes to a healthy indoor climate. This calm interior emphasizes the construction, but we added a few fun sparks that stand out in contrast. The wooden building brings life to the park and bridges two worlds of wood.
This CPO project shapes the sustainable dream of a community that wishes to share their home. The housing project is created as a team in strong cooperation with the group of owners. It’s their green dream of collective living come true.
De Houten Kop has been nominated for the Rotterdam Architecture Award! It’s the first stacked all wood building in Rotterdam, it brings life to the park, bridges two worlds and shapes the sustainable housing dream of community living.
