The office as a creative living room

For Schiphol Area Development Company Apto created a hybrid working environment in the Base. The SADC studio serves as a creative living room for stand-up sessions, creative brainstorms, meetings, podcasts or just to simply come together over a cup coffee. It blends interpretively into the workspace of the team of SADC, combining warm and natural materials with a horizontal zoning plan.

Tailor made to fit needs and ambitions

After a careful process of getting to know the clients needs and ambitions, Apto presented SADC with a perfectly tailor-made concept. It was a priority for this project that Apto actively communicated with all members of the SADC to design a space that comprehensively covers the needs of all employees. This feedback was gathered through in-depth online questionaries that were sent out, which were then followed up on by in-person interviews and conversations.

On spatial design level we reused 80% of the furniture.
3D printed ''Olifantgras'' table We created an iconic table out of Olifantsgras at the entrance of Schiphol Area Development Company, to show their innovative power. The circular building material is locally grown underneath the landing zones of Schiphol Airport and - under the right pressure - you can 3D print it or compress it into a surface. The uniquely shaped table is the largest element 3D printed with Olifantsgras. Our collegue Rodrigo used Grasshopper to design the table and to work towards the 3D input for the printing machinery.

''One of the biggest learnings is that when it comes to innovation, it is essential to give enough room for testing and prototyping''.
